Georgian Technical University (GTU)

Georgian Technical University is a state university founded in 1922 in Tbilisi, Georgia. The Georgian Technical University (GTU, formerly V.I. Lenin Georgian Polytechnical Institute) was initially created as a polytechnic faculty of the Tbilisi State University. GTU is the main and largest technical university of Georgia. It is located in the capital city of Tbilisi.  In 1928, the Departments of the polytechnic faculty was transformed into an independent Institute and named to “Georgian Polytechnic Institute: (GPI).

By 1970, the Institution already had 15 full-time and 13 part-time faculties. And In the 80’s, the students at the Institute were already carrying out high volumes of advanced scientific researches and works. During this period, the Institute became the largest higher educational institution in the Caucasian region for its students (total 40 000) and academic staff (total 5000). And Polytechnical Institute took first place in the USSR higher educational institutions. In 1990, Georgian Polytechnic Institute was granted the university status and named as the Georgian Technical University. After Georgia’s Independence, GTU underwent critical reforms and restructuring of curriculum in 1995. And gradually GTU began the installation of new training standards introducing Credit System.

Today, Georgian Technical University remains the main and largest technical university of Georgia, with global recognition, special accreditations and the starting point for many research centers, technical and engineering universities in Georgia. Study In GTU

To get Admission at the Georgian Technical University (GTU) simply fill our Application form or send all the required documents to gtu@admissionoffice.ge.

List of the required documents:

  1. Copy of the passport;
  2. High School Certificate or BA degree Diploma (for MA degree applicants) along with transcript;
  3. Application fee payment receipt.
  4. Video Interview (Contact us for sample)

Application Status:

After submission, within the 7 working days of fulfilling the application requirements, we will send you an official offer letter from the Georgian Technical University. On the basis of the signed offer letter, Admission office will start enrollment procedure. Translation, notarization, recognition and enrollment procedures take approximately 2 – 4 weeks.

GTU has no deadline for admission. However, the University has two intakesStudents can get admission to either join Fall Academic Session (September batch) or the Spring Academic Session (February/March batch).

Once the invited applicant sends the personal identification and educational documentation to the Georgian Technical University, the documents will be submitted to the National Centre for Educational Quality Enhancement and to the Ministry of Education and Science to obtain the Ministry enrollment. As soon as the enrollment procedure will be successfully completed, the University will inform the applicant of his successful enrollment to study in Georgia.

As soon as the enrolment procedure will be successfully completed, GTU will send you an official invitation letters which – together with other documents – will be required for the applicant to apply for studying VISA to the closest Georgian Embassy.

Global/Europe Recognition
The Georgian Technical University is involved in the Bologna process and is recognized both in Europe and in the US. The University fo Georgia is a member of ENIC-NARIC (ENIC – European Network of Information Centres in European Region, NARIC – National Academic Information Centers in the European Union)

MCI Recognition:
The Georgian Technical University in Tbilisi has just recently gained the accreditation – Medical Council of India (MCI), which means that the Georgian Technical University is listed among the foreign universities recommended by the Medical Council of India.

Ministry of Education Accreditation System (Iran)
On October 2, 2017, the Georgian Technical University received an official accreditation by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
GTU has received Group D accreditation, which means that the Iranian state recognizes all specialty and program diploma in bachelor’s specialty in health care.

YOK/CoHE
The  Georgian Technical University has acquired the CoHE (YOK) accreditation in 2015.

Exchange Programs:
The Georgian Technical University coorperates with the European and US leading universities and offer exchange programs at various European universities to the students for one semester or a year. Thus the university has exchange programs within the individual cooperation, ERAMUS mundus and Eramus + The Georgian Technical University also offers Exchange Programs in Turkey in the framework of the Mevlana Exchange Program.

International Projects:

Career development of students and graduates is the main concern of the office of student employment support of the Georgian Technical University Tbilisi. That is why it is distinguished with its high employment index: 90% of graduates are employed.

The office regularly offers trainings to students to improve skills necessary for career development. In order to promote student employment, job fairs on campus are held several times a year, where leading companies and the representatives of public sector take part.

Student Affairs:
